Shared-services meeting

On May 30th, I attended the 1st YC Shared Services panel at the YC Auditorium.  This was the 1st of 3 meetings mandated by the state.  Bob Lawton , the County Administrator, gave an overview of the two areas the committee had identified to look into for possible cost savings.  The two identified were Judicial and Health Insurance.  A lively discussion took place with the public suggesting areas that could bring about savings.  Some of the suggestions and questions from the public are listed below:     1)  Could the towns and county go in with a larger group ex: Association of Rural Counties/Towns, to get a better rating for Health insurance?

                            2)  Has the panel looked at how other counties share services/deal with health insurance?

3)  Has the panel looked at:  information tech,  purchasing,  human resources,  planning, and code enforcement?

Another meeting will be set up soon as this report to the state must be completed by August 1st.  Watch this space for more information.
